Description

Description

The Mouse IGF Binding Protein 3 (Ms IGFBP-3) ELISA quantitates Ms IGFBP-3 in mouse serum, plasma, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Ms IGFBP-3. Principle of the method The Mouse IGFBP-3 solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen. Rigorous validation Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.

IGFBP3 is a gene that belongs to the insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) family. The gene encodes a protein that contains both an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. This protein is known to form a ternary complex with insulin-like growth factor acid-labile subunit (IGFALS) and either insulin-like growth factor (IGF) I or II. The complex circulates in the plasma and prolongs the half-life of IGFs while also altering their interaction with cell surface receptors. Various isoforms of the gene have been identified through alternate transcriptional splice variants. Diseases associated with IGFBP3 include Insulin-Like Growth Factor I and Acid-Labile Subunit Deficiency.
