Description

Cell surface receptors are specialized integral membrane proteins that take part in communication between the cell and its surroundings. Extracellular signaling molecules, typically hormones, neurotransmitters, cytokines, growth factors and cell recognition molecules, attach to the receptor, triggering changes in the function of the cell. The Silencer™ Select Human Cell Surface siRNA Library contains 2,382 Ambion™ Silencer Select siRNAs targeting 794 genes. This library of highly potent, chemically-modified siRNAs was designed using the most up-to-date genome databases, including the NCBI RefSeq database and cross-referenced to the Gene Ontology Consortium (GO) database and/or the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC). The Silencer Select siRNAs are designed using Thermo Fisher Scientific's leading algorithms—along with our novel locked nucleic acid (LNA) chemical modifications, this helps to ensure the efficacy, specificity and potency required for RNAi screening against cell surface-based signaling.

The highly potent Silencer Select siRNAs allow you to use even lower concentrations of siRNAs, which helps to minimize off target effects, reduce false negative data and maximize siRNA library output for additional screens and data validation. The Silencer Select Human Cell Surface siRNA Library contains 0.25 nmol of each highly potent siRNA, sufficient for at least 500 transfections (at 5 nM siRNA, 100 μL transfection volume).
